Micro-Grant for Early-Stage Performing Artists

The Malta Music Performing Arts Complex (MMPAC) is proud to announce the launch of a new Micro-Granting Scheme designed to support Malta-based performing artists at the early stages of creating original work.

This fund aims to empower musicians, sound artists, composers, and interdisciplinary performers by providing flexible, accessible financial support that addresses the unique challenges faced by emerging and independent creators in Malta’s vibrant but often under-resourced arts ecosystem.

    • Individual artists or groups based in Malta
       

    • Musicians, sound artists, composers, and interdisciplinary performers working in original and experimental forms
       

    • Applicants who are in the early development phase of a new creative project
       

  • Our micro-grants will cover essential project development costs, including but not limited to:
     

    • Recording sessions

    • Rehearsal space rental

    • Equipment rental

    • Studio time

    • Artist fees and honoraria

  • Beyond financial assistance, grant recipients will receive:
     

    • Visibility and promotion through MMPAC’s digital platforms and social media channels
       

    • Opportunities to showcase their work publicly at MMPAC-organized events and partner venues
       

    Networking and mentorship opportunities within the local creative community

  • Many talented artists in Malta face significant barriers when applying for traditional public or EU funding—often due to project scale, administrative complexity, or lack of institutional support. This micro-grant scheme offers a community-driven, artist-friendly alternative that prioritizes flexibility, transparency, and impact.

    Our goal is to nurture creative experimentation and support the early, often fragile stages of artistic development, contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic performing arts landscape in Malta.

  • Interested artists are invited to submit:

    • A brief project proposal outlining their creative idea and development needs (max 500 words)

    • A budget summary detailing how the funds will be used 

    • Timeline of implementation

    • A short artist biography or group profile

    • Optional: links to previous work, demos, or portfolio materials
